Predictions

We have seen every nomine in the 6 major categories. The nominees represent the best movies of the year.
The winners? Let's just say Hollywood politics plays a big part in who actully takes home the Oscar.

Oscar Winner
The King's Speech Colin Firth Natalie Portman Christian Bale Melissa Leo Tom Hooper
D's Picks The King's Speech Colin Firth Natalie Portman Christian Bale Melissa Leo Tom Hooper
LA's Picks The King's Speech Colin Firth Natalie Portman Christian Bale Melissa Leo David Fincher

Must see this year:
The dark, but engrossing, "Black Swan".   The gritty and thoroughly authentic "Winter's Bone".
"The Fighter" is more about family than boxing. Englishman Christian Bale metamorphisises into Dicky Eklund.

The Buzz

This year everything is pushed up a week. Less time for us to see all of the movies, but most of the actors and actresses were in one of the 10 Best Picture nominees. That helps us. The current buzz...

Decoding the Critics' Choice Awards: 7 Moments and What They Mean

Picture:
"The Social Network" has won most critics awards and had the momentum at the time members were voting.
National Board of Review

BUT, "The King's Speech" is the feel good favorite.

"Winter's Bone" won
San Diego Film Critics Awards. (The very first film to take a top critic’s prize away from “The Social Network.”)

Actor:
Colin Firth, "The King's Speech"

Actress:
Natalie Portman, "The Black Swan"
Jennifer Lawrence, "Winter's Bone"

Supporting Actor:
Christian Bale, "The Fighter"

Supporting Actress:
Melissa Leo, "The Fighter"
Hailee Steinfeld, "True Grit"
Jacki Weaver "Animal Kingdom"

Director:
Tom Hooper, "The King's Speech", wins the DGA. Only 6 times has the DGA Award winner not also won the Academy Award for Best Director. This is the hardest category to predict this year.
